A feature request is definitely the thing to do!
I just submitted a feature request on this; been meaning to do that for a long time.
But I don't want to see 8 source boxes if I only have 4 cameras. So I added: "Add the option for more than 4 cameras. By "option," I mean that you would not have more than 4 source windows if you did not have more than 4 cameras."
Who it this "Kevin" with only one post? Ha, ha! Forums assign you a new identity?
Here's what I wrote.
"I'd love for Premiere to be able to handle more than four cameras in a multicam edit. However, I don't want a lot of empty camera slots in the edit window. Premiere should open them up by twos. If I have two cameras, I see only two. If I have three cameras, I will see four (one black). If I have 7 cameras, I will see eight (one black). This should go up to 16."
Totally agree. While we're on the topic, it would be nice to be able to have the 4/9/12 monitors (whatever that number is) be able to be on one window and the main screen on another screen/window.
What I mean is that the 4-camera multicam monitor window should NOT be attached to your program monitor (or whatever it's called... the one that shows you what camera is live).
I would ideally have the 4-camera (or more) monitor on one monitor and have the main cut-monitor (program monitor?) on another computer screen for easier editing.... or at least give me that option.
When cutting multicam the little thumbnails and main picture have always seemed way too small to me, but there's nothing you can do about it.... yet.
I have submitted a request too.
I personally turn that thing off. I hate it.
The yellow box is enough for me to know which is 'live".
The entire window can be resized, though, if you need to make it bigger.
Jim, great idea. Now, just how do you do that? I use it every day and have never seen how to shut off the right side. I used to just resize it so big that the right size ends up off the screen.
Eagerly awaiting your wonderful tip!
Hit the wing menu on the multicam monitor window... ;-)
Each camera should have its own window.
Arrange them anywhere you want.
Link them together just like other tabs or not.
Resize to whatever ... etc..
