What is your Sequence Preset? Does that match the DV Frame Size of the MPEG-2 material? It should be NTSC DV, and with a PAR (Pixel Aspect Ratio) that also matches.
Also, much will depend on how the player, and more probably, the TV is set to display non-HD footage. This is on the viewer's end of things, and might require that they make some settings changes. What are the general specs. of the TV used here, HD flat-screen perhaps?

The sequence preset is NTSC DV
I'm trying to export in Mpeg-2, and I've made sure everything matches.
I've enven tried clicking "match sequence presets" which exports an AVI but still causes the same problem.
The TV is a standard Sony Wega - not an HD tv - with a standard dvd player.
Again, the raw footage displays normally when burned straight to a dvd, but when I edit it together and export it using the same
resolution - it shrinks.
Maybe you could be a little more specific or show us a picture. what do you mean by "shrinks"
is it smaller in every direction or just squeezed letterbox? it must be a sequence or encoder setting for the resolution or aspect ratio.
