    Help with Slices

    Chris Goodiel
      Hello all,

I am running into a problem at the moment trying to transition over to FW CS3. I used Image Ready before and I am used to the way I set things up for images/slices and trying to find the similar way to set it up in FW.

I already have code set up for a rollover in DW so I have no use to export a rollover from the FW. How I used to set up my space in ImageReady was I would create duplicate slices one with the name _on and the other with the name _off each in there own slice set, these would correspend with on and off layers of a button state.

I have tried in FW cs3 to create duplicate slices each in there own web sublayer naming one off with each off state name_off slices and the other on with name_on slices. I turned the on layers on and the on slices on and exported the slices just fine. The problem happened when I turn the on stuff off and the off layers and slices on and try to export I get nothing.

I moved the off slices to the right of the on slices and tried to export and it exported images but if I move them back over the same location they will export nothing.

If you understand my problem and have a solution other than moving the on off images away from each other please respond.

Thanks for your help in advance,

      Chris

Chris can you post a link to the file? It will help us work through
          things better.

            Hi Chris,

Instead of creating the images on separate web layers, create them in
separate frames. You can duplicate frame 1 and just change the look of
the buttons in frame two. When you export, use the Frames to Files
option, FW will automatically give the images on the frame 2 a label
designating which frame they are from.

Here's your PNG file reworked to demonstrate what I mean by putting the
rollover images on 2 frames. Right click to download, and then open it
                in FW.
