1. Re: Cannot Paste Image into Photoshop CS4
Noel Carboni Feb 9, 2011 12:17 PM (in response to Joker B)There are 3rd party plug-ins known to interfere with Photoshop's clipboard handling.
What plug-ins have you installed?-Noel

Joker B Feb 9, 2011 1:54 PM (in response to Noel Carboni)The only plugin not shipped by default from adobe is NVIDIA DDS export (required to write textures in DDS format -- we are a game shop!), which people have used for many years without incident.
Is there a list of problem plugins somewhere?

3. Re: Cannot Paste Image into Photoshop CS4
Noel Carboni Feb 9, 2011 2:24 PM (in response to Joker B)I know some plug-in from Nik was mentioned in prior threads on this subject.
Another possibility is that another application on the system may have the clipboard tied up. Do you see the same problem if you have shut down almost everything else?

4. Re: Cannot Paste Image into Photoshop CS4
Joker B Feb 9, 2011 3:56 PM (in response to Joker B)I usually just have a few command windows open and the game.
The clipboard image *is* there, external to Photoshop -- it can be pasted into other apps (say, Gimp).
I've found a few similar threads here and on otehr forums, but no solutions posted -- could a win OS update have caused an issue?

Macro Details Feb 9, 2011 5:02 PM (in response to Joker B)Edit=Preferences=General. Make sure that Export Clipboard is Selected. When Selected it purges the Clipboard when switching applications.
Might help.

Joker B Feb 10, 2011 12:54 PM (in response to Joker B)...or should I say: I have tried toggling this back and forth and restarting Photoshop. Which is just back to the original problem :/

8. Re: Cannot Paste Image into Photoshop CS4
Joker B Feb 10, 2011 1:11 PM (in response to Noel Carboni)DDS Plugin is not the culprit
I just now closed PS, and removed that plugiin (and the related "Normal Map Filter" plugin), restarted photoshop.
"Export Clipboard" is turned on.
Went to another program, did a scrrencap.
Back to PS, hit "new" -- was the expected size, so far so hopeful...
Press "^V" NOTHING.
Edit Menu "Paste" is grayed out.
Hmm, maybe there's nothing in teh windwos clipboard?
Open a web browser, run the "Jira" java app and past a screenshot. Perfect, the screencap I made before switching to Photoshop is still there.
So I guess now my allowable paste count is zero. Oh joy.

Joker B Feb 10, 2011 1:16 PM (in response to Joker B)Restting Photoshop Settings Does Not Work Either.
I just tried this -- reset the settings (alt-ctrl-shift when opening, respond "yes" to dialog) and then hit "N" (correct size for clipboard, horray!)
Pasted clipboard -- worked fine
jumped out of PS to my other app, took another screen cap
came back to photoshop, hit "paste"
The previous screen cap was pasted -- the new one is ignored by PS
Same ol' problem as in the original post.

11. Re: Cannot Paste Image into Photoshop CS4
Noel Carboni Feb 10, 2011 1:31 PM (in response to Joker B)There is a registry tweak that affects Photoshop's clipboard importation process.
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Photoshop\11.0]
“AlwaysImportClipboard”=dword:00000001Might be worth a try adding that value on your system.

12. Re: Cannot Paste Image into Photoshop CS4
Joker B Feb 11, 2011 6:37 PM (in response to Noel Carboni)The regkey did not work either.
I could paste into other apps before PS started, and swtich to other apps after PS had failed to paste, but PS would not paste.
I've had to tell our artists to keep Gimp open (and we are not G fans) just to accumulate screen caps so they can be exported as a layered PSD and edited in PS.

Bill Hunt Feb 12, 2011 9:35 AM (in response to Joker B)The marking of a thread is usually not a deterrent for people viewing and continuing to comment. Few really look at those little icons.
I don't have anything to add, that has not already been offered, but just want to let you know that most do not bother with the "Answered" notation.
Good luck,
Hunt
