FW8 has started crashing my Mac

    ghansen
I have been using FW8 since it came out.

All of the sudden, if I try to open an existing .png file or import a Photoshop file, it completely crases my Mac or locks it up where I have to force restart the entire machine.

I have tried removing the entire installation and reinstalling, including prefs - same thing. Checked for corrupt fonts - nothing.

This is a very serious failure, any help anyone? Please?

      G5 Mac, 2Gig Ram, 10.4.7

Check for corrupted or missing fonts.

This is what I have discovered.

The .png files I am trying to open and the Photoshop files have 2 Opentype fonts and 1 Postscript font.

If I turn off the Opentype fonts, the Photoshop files will import fine, but the .png files give an error, of "file cannot be opened." - at least my Mac doesn't crash. But as soon as I turn the Opentype fonts back on, crashola.

I have replaced the Opentype fonts with fresh new copies and nothing.

Could this possible be an Opentype/FontBook/ issue?
