I'm not familiar with the Winfast, so I can't comment on that. The Raid5 off the ICH10R will not be fast, maybe have a look at a hardware raid controller card.
What PSU and CPU cooler do you have in mind?
Thank you for your reply.
I realize that a dedicated RAID controller would out perform an onboard RAID controller but when you say it wont be fast, how exactly do you mean? Surely the onboard RAID would have to out perform hard drives that are not in a RAID configuration. If you have some stats available on this I would appreciate looking at them.
This system of course is on a budget like 99% of us or we would all have dream machines. So looking at RAID cards deters me a bit. The system configuration would be give and take. So to purchase a RAID card, even a cheap one, would subtract from somewhere else in the system and I would need help in justifying that decision.
I have looked at a few coolers but figured i'd start off with the stock to see how fast I can get the overclock. Hoping that the CoolerMaster case will help things stay a bit cooler.
Do some reading and calculating at...
Power supply calculator http://extreme.outervision.com/index.jsp (the PRO version)
Do NOT go weak on your power supply!!
Even though I do not overclock, I bought a Cooler Master N520 to keep the CPU cool... there are many brands models, so do some reading
Thanks for the tip but I thought I was being very conservative with the 1000w considering there are only two higher watt rated PSU's out there (1200w & 1500w) outside of the occasional odd ball (1250w etc) and this machine isn't what I would call an enthusiast machine. Although it may be a peak rating the CoolerMaster Silent Pro Gold 1000w has a max output of 1200w
Ah... you listed case and power supply on one line, I didn't see that
1000w is likely fine... but do check the calculators for your total load
Oops.. you are correct, haha.. i think something got deleted there.. I
Case: CoolerMaster HAF 912 Advanced
Powersupply: CoolerMaster Silent Pro Gold 1000W
Thanks for picking that up
