Abhi, I've downloaded version 10 and now 10.0.1 and it doesn't work. The installation is succesful but I can't open PDF documents from my computer or from the browser, it keeps crashing and sends:
Each time I try to open the reader itself, or a PDF file that's what I get...Is there a way that I can get the previous version while this one gets fixed? I have WinXP with all it's patches and SPs up to date.

What is your Windows version?
Try to run the System File Checker; from a Command Prompt type
You may need your Windows install disk to replace a missing system module.

Since you have a completely different problem from what is discussed in this topic, please start your own topic.
You can download earlier versions of Adobe Reader from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
Make sure you uninstall the current version completely before attempting to install a previous version.
Thanks to all who replied. I tried everything suggested to no avail. The only thing that worked was to delete
Adobe Reader X and download Adobe Reader 9.4 version and this worked. I can now
view pdfs. I can only surmise that there must be a bug in Adobe X or it is not compatible with Windows XP
