I have just created a newsletter (http://www.rippleafrica.org/images/news_feb11online.pdf) for our charity in InDesign CS4 which has hyperlinks in the text, but in the PDF of the newsletter these links open in the same window which means that, if readers close the window, they also close the newsletter. I would like to be able to specify that each link is opened in a new window but cannot see how to do it, either in Indesign or in Acrobat.
Also, if, they click the back button on their browser instead of closing the window, it goes back to the first page instead of going back to the page the reader was on when they clicked the hyperlink.
I am working with InDesign CS4 and Acrobat 9 Pro.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
You can use the app.launchURL method for this: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.150.html
So you have to decide whether it's best for it to work for some users, or stick with what you have.
Thank you, George. I decided to stick with what I had and, although I got one comment back about the link not opening in a new window (out of about 40 comments), it didn't seem to faze anyone else. As we're intending to set up a blog on our website, we probably won't be producing our newsletter like this in the future anyway, but thank you for your help and advice.
