I came across this example which uses Grouping collections and a renderer to display a divider between rows of a grid.
Any reasonable way to prevent the divider (which is really the group node) from being selectable?
I've looked at the example below on Alex's blog, but it's not clear to me how much would be involved in adapting it (i.e. the finishKeySelection override) for an AdvancedDataGrid with grouping collection, or whether I could afford to take that on.
Use the itemEditBeginning method, inside you can use the preventDefault() event to block the selection.

prevent in-place editing.
Since I posted, I've had some success modifying Alex Harui's code (which overrides mouseEventToItemRenderer , moveSelectionVertically, and finishKeySelection) so that it uses a cursor. I can share what I did if people are interested and it holds up to further testing.
