As far as I am aware, this card should be compatible?
No, not officially, anyway. Try Googling for "cs5 gpu hack" for a possible workaround. No guarantees.
It does work, once you have applied the hack.
oh ok, my bad, I should have read the hardware requirements list.
The Mercury playback engine, this is software based and runs on all comps?
I'm a bit new to PP, switching over from FCP, so bare with me please
Hey Harm, thanks for that. I'll give it a shot. Just a little bit worried that it might blow out my card :s
No need to worry. All you do in applying the hack is a single line insert in a text file. I don't know the exact string you need to insert, you use GPUSniffer.exe for that and then enter the required string in the cuda_supported_cards.txt file.
My guess it is something like: "GeForce GTS 9800". Save the file and you are ready to go.
Ok, I just tried this, and it says that I do not permission to edit the file (in either Mac or PC version)...I have admin accounts on both machines.
This is really a make or break thing for me when it comes to purchasing the final product, as I don't want to have to shell out for a new Nvidia Card.
Change your permissions to full R/W.
Works on both machines now! I love this new Premiere!
Time to go buy a copy!
Well, Harm is very good, and a valued contributor, but a "beauty... ?"
Well, OK, if you insist.
