Welcome to the forum.
First thing that I would do is determine all of the specs. on the files produced by that camera. Much can probably be set via a menu, and with careful reading of the manual, you will get more info. Also, see this ARTICLE, as it will tell you a bit more about AVI as a wrapper, plus utilities (free) to get the full details.
Those details will direct you on what Project Preset to use.
First, I do not see a "reply" button on the Forum page. I am forced to
answer this via e-mail.
a little help...
I pulled one of my videos over to Gspot to analyze it. It found it to be
MJPEG for the video and PCM for the audio. I do have the codec installed for
video and it states "no codec required" for the audio. I opened a New
Project in Premiere Elements 9, looked through all the presets and not a one
states MJPEG and they all say 48,000 samples/second for the audio choice.
Thus still not sure which one to pick.
The smartest move is to convert MJPEGs to DV-AVIs using either Windows MovieMaker or MPEG Streamclip, per the FAQs to the right of this forum.
As Bill says, you're only going to run into problems trying to edit MJPEGs in Premiere Elements.
I asked for help from Adobe, allowed them to connect to my computer and they
discovered that my NVIDIA files needed updating. That fixed the no video
issue. The first play of every video (AVI) is choppy but after played the
first time the next ones are smooth.
That was really my problem, no video and I thought the answer would be a
clear choice in preset and they suggest I use DSLR-480p-DSLR 640x480p60.
thank you for your help
