I've just updated my installation of Adobe Reader X to the latest version, 10.01. Now it won't open web hosted pdfs in Internet Explorer (the previous version did). When I try and open a pdf from a web host I'm told that the file can't be open with the default program (and suggests that the file might be corrupt); I'm only given the option to save the file. Once saved locally on my harddrive Reader X opens the file without complaint.
Any ideas how to solve this? I'm running Internet Explorer 64bit under Windows 7 Home Pro. 64bit and Internet Explorer 8. An interesting note is that the pdfs do open correctly in IE8 32bit.
I have exactly the same problem. Running win 7 64 and IE8 64. Everything was working perfect in version 9. I have tried to repair and looking for solutions too.
Does Adobe Support read this or?
Upen Adobe Reader, go to Edit > preferences, scroll down on the left and click "Internet", un-check "Display PDF in browser". The plug-in for Adobe Reader is not 64 bit yet, so that is why it works in IE 8 running in 32 bit mode. Changing the setting above will bypass the plug-in.
