Need advice on where in the folder tree to put a local test area

I've recently started messing around with PHP/MySQL which lead to installing a local test area.  Since some of the terminology was new I decided to just install at the default locations in the installer.  In my case that puts it at C:wamp/www/sitename.

To avoid duplicate source, my source for sitename is also stored in the same location.

      So far so good....

The problem I'm running into is Windows' libraries are below the User folder so navigating to the code can be a bit of a pain at times.

What's the wisdom on where in the folder tree to store a sites source code?  I'm thinking that creating a new library (e.g. web sites) would be right.  If that's the way do I just change the path in the DW test server definition area after moving the files?

      Thanks
