I'm a new user of Elements 9 and I'm trying to add/ import footage from a Panasonic P2 HVX200 camera. So far I have been getting an error message saying that it doesn't find a codec it accepts. Is there a way to fix this problem? Do I need a file format converter & if so, what kind of file converter do I need?
Premiere Elements will not likely be able to edit video from a P2 camcorder. Premiere Elements is a consumer editing program and edits consumer formats, like miniDV, HDV and AVCHD. You can't edit video from a $4000 camcorder in a $79 program.
With that professional camcorder, you'll find much more success using Premiere Pro CS5.
As Steve mentions, PrPro CS5 has complete support for a P2 workflow, and is ideal for that purpose.
