    Difference between application/xml and application/x-www-form-urlencoded

So I've done a lot of searching and I'm really curious as to what the difference is, pertaining to Flex, and HTTPSERVICE calls between contentType.

This seems like its hit or miss for me. I try not specifiying a content type at all, and it works on some php pages I've written, I use 'application/xml' and it works 80% of the time, and just recently I wrote a site on a godaddy host, and I had to use 'application/x-www-form-urlencoded' .

Everything I write is with Flex 4, PHP backends making XML from postgres or mysql querys.

I'm just curious if anyone can explain the difference between, no content type (what is the default?),  application/xml, and application/x-www-form-urlencoded, and how I can determine which one to use when?

      Thanks
