I'm still running XP and get the same message about 2/3 times on open with Readeer X - an update I did not ask for. Also get crashes without warning or error message about 2/3 times when I click on Comment or Share, and when I click to open a file listed on the splash screen. about 50% of the time the files on the splash screen fail to open and I get an error message sayinbg the file is corrupt, but if I do a standard file open routine via menu the file opens OK.
I would guess all these are problems related to Vis C runtime errors, but where to start for a fix?? AR/X clearly has too many bugs and glitches in it to be usable in this version.
Much easier to uninstall AR/X and work/share in google docs.
I am getting exactly the same problem but am using Windows 7. It would be very uch appreciated in somebody from Adobe could address this problem. It's getting very frustrating.
Can you provide a screenshot of this dialog with compelte details.
Exactly - my Reader X crashes first time every time I go to print an open document. Second time it does not crash. Where's the logic/error in that??
I haven't got the answer but I wanted to share a work-around until a solution is found. I am using Windows XP and installed Adobe Acrobat Reader X. The runtime error message has occurred 100% of the time for me whatever way Reader is started. To work around this I edited the properties of the desktop icon and set the compatability mode to Windows 2000. I still get the error message but the Reader keeps open and thankfully though, I am able to view the PDF files. I hope this helps and look forward to the solution when it arrives.
This has helped a bit. I can at least open pdf files now, but trying to print causes a hard crash of the entire application.
Thanks Steve. Will try that. Pretty clear that nobody @ Adobe cares enough about compatibility with Win XP to comment or offer a fix here
How can I get this out of my computor. It wont let me open PDF files and see some videos.
Have run 4 different anti virus programs and all say no infections.
How can I fix this.
This is what the error says and when you click ok you lose it all.
Program C/Program Files/Adobe/Reader 10.0/Reader/AcroRd32.exe
This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the applications support team for more information.
the slashes in the error go the other way in the real error.
Thanks for any help. Keith Merchant
PS: Ive try to uninstall and reinstall but adobes wont uninstall?? how do I uninstall them??
You may want to try the following:
Run this fix from Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Uninstall Reader using Add/Remove Programs
If you want to reinstall Reader, download it from http://get.adobe.com/reader/direct/
I receive an error when trying to view a pdf.. It says "internal error".. then a message comes up that Internet Explorer has stopped working and it's looking for a solution... Then it says it didn't find a solution and the program will close. I followed previous instructions and unistalled Adope ReaderX. Then reinstalled it and nothing has changed. The exact same problem. I can not view any pdf files. All was fine until about 10 days ago when this all started. I have Windows 7 64 bit.
10 days. Frustrating.

OK... here's what I did. After much frustration of uninstalling and re-installing Adobe ReaderX and still not being able to open any pdf files. I again uninstalled Adobe ReaderX and installed a previous version. It worked... I can open pdf files again!!!! It worked for me, so I'm hoping it works for everyone else!!
Try uninstalling Adobe ReaderX and installing an older version. It worked for me!! And I was having the same problem as you..
