3. Re: linked .exe files not openning "dis-allowed by systems Administrator" error
try67 Mar 17, 2011 1:09 AM (in response to jmurphy777)This is no longer allowed, due to security reasons, like you said.
You should look for a different way to distribute your exe files.

4. Re: linked .exe files not openning "dis-allowed by systems Administrator" error
jmurphy777 Mar 17, 2011 3:32 PM (in response to try67)unfortunatley this is not a viable answer.
Adobe needs to come to the Party and make allowances for these settings to be changed.
there are hundreds if not thousands of education resources that have been developed around the ability to run things this way.
so we wont be finding another way, Adobe needs to make allowances, and failure to do so shows how much they actually care.
Is there anyone from Adobe support that can shed some light into a fix or if they are planning to make some changes?

5. Re: linked .exe files not openning "dis-allowed by systems Administrator" error
try67 Mar 17, 2011 3:43 PM (in response to jmurphy777)This might be possible through some registry hacks, as suggested here:
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/acrobat/pro/using/WS396794562021d52e-25dd509f12b33f4cb07-8000. html
Have a look at this tutorial for more info:
By the way, this is not Adobe Support. Just a User-to-User forum (although
there are some Adobe employees around here).

6. Re: linked .exe files not openning "dis-allowed by systems Administrator" error
jmurphy777 Apr 7, 2011 5:07 PM (in response to try67)thanks for the reply,
i am having a look into the registry entries - at the moment, they seem like a good alternative.
my main gripe is that the message says that "this file is set to be launched by this PDF file. This is currently disallowed by your system administrator"
now i am the systems administrator, and i didnt "disallow" anything.
thats just adobe dumping responsibility.
i will try the workaround and see how things go.

7. Re: linked .exe files not openning "dis-allowed by systems Administrator" error
jmurphy777 Apr 7, 2011 5:35 PM (in response to try67)registry settings worked well.
the adobe reader X customisation utility also lets you set these settings, so have created a new MSI with the settings preset.
thanks for the tip.
