1. Re: Bridge CS5 Crashes when navigating video clips
Curt Y Feb 25, 2011 5:36 PM (in response to Paul Lewis)I have similar problems with Bridge when I scroll thumbnails too fast. I have an OK video card, but not high end. Although not a computer geek I would suspect you are feeding the video card too much info and it is balking. A good indication that it is video card is when it will ask to reboot.

2. Re: Bridge CS5 Crashes when navigating video clips
Paul Lewis Feb 28, 2011 7:40 AM (in response to Curt Y)That sounds like a possibility... I was planning on upgrading to a nVidia card someday anyways, the 5770 is just what came in the box. Once I get to that point I will post back to conferm that it has fixed it. Thanks!

3. Re: Bridge CS5 Crashes when navigating video clips
Curt Y Feb 28, 2011 9:14 AM (in response to Paul Lewis)I have an ATI 5450, your 5750 is a far
better card and I do not think you will gain anything by upgrading, unless you go
really high end.
Make sure you have the latest video drivers, from the mgmt. web site.
ATI and nVidia are the top cards and there are fans of both.
Just be careful not to move to another task while the wheel is spinning.

4. Re: Bridge CS5 Crashes when navigating video clips
Paul Lewis Feb 28, 2011 11:10 AM (in response to Curt Y)Yeah, I was only thinking of upgrading or switching to a comparable or higher nVidia card because of the GPU acceleration. I figured if I'm gonna get a card for that I might as well get a nicer one.
All my drivers are up to date, I check them every once in a while. I will have to make sure I let everything load next time

5. Re: Bridge CS5 Crashes when navigating video clips
Curt Y Feb 28, 2011 1:40 PM (in response to Paul Lewis)There are a lot of fans of ATI cards, read up careflully on the GPU acceleration feature. Make sure it is not all hype.
NVidia got a black eye in Bridge and Photoshop last year as their new drivers did not work with Bridge and had problems in PS. Took many months before problems were fixed. Users had to go back to old versions durning that time.

6. Re: Bridge CS5 Crashes when navigating video clips
Paul Lewis Mar 1, 2011 7:52 AM (in response to Curt Y)Oh wow, I've never really read up on graphics cards and Adobe because up until now I worked with laptops (lots of on the go work), so I was always stuck with what came in the box and it was usually ATI. Thanks for the info, I'll have to look into it more!

7. Re: Bridge CS5 Crashes when navigating video clips
Br QE Mar 2, 2011 7:33 PM (in response to Paul Lewis)For the Nvidia issue Curt mentioned, it's some type of Nvidia GPU cards on Windows XP SP3 may cause Bridge CS4 or CS5 BSOD, including
- Quadro FX1400- GeForce 8800/7800/6600
- Driver version: 6.14.0011.9107
Solution is to install the Nvidia driver 196.21, or an older version driver, like 6.14.0011.8585. See http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_196.21_whql.html
Thanks,
Bridge QE
