(I think I helped you with this project before... )
Make a copy of your project for safekeeping. Open the original project file in a text editor (even Notepad or Textedit will do); a project file is simply an XML document. Use the text editor's search and replace feature to search for ".avi" and replace with ".mov" and then save the file. Reopen the project in Premiere, and point it to the MOVs. Sit back, and watch the magic.

In your search and replace, be sure to use the "." before the extensions; that will (or should) prevent any accidental replacement of the string "avi" in your project XML that shouldn't be replaced. This is also why you should make a backup before proceeding!
