P Spier Mar 5, 2011 3:11 AM (in response to zaconda)The .idml file contains less information than the .indd -- no image previews or embedded profiles (I think), for example, so they tend to be smaller. How much depends on the content and how recently you did a Save As on the .indd file to remove unusable change information.
Export in CS5 is a background task, which means it doesn't show you a progress bar, but there is a little animated icon in the menu bar that runs while the export is in progress, and you can open the Background Tasks panel from the Window > Utilities menu to check on progress. Perhaps your export is not complete.
Are you saving locally or to a network location? Is the copy of CS4 patched to at least 6.0.5? What happens when you try to open the .idml? Does it open in CS5?
