This is script straight from the Flash Help.
first you should create a listener that listens to when the flv is done playing and then it runs the listener function which here is just a trace statement. You could replace that trace statement with a gotoAndPlay(whatever frame);
Thanks for the help whodeee but unfortunately, Adobe's help is far too cryptic for me... I have no idea what to do with that.
I have the FLVPlayback component on a single frame with a stop(); frame action. The FLVPlayback component has an instance name of "reel"
I'm assuming I need code under that stop(); function that waits for the movie to finish playing and then the playhead needs to continue on to the next frame labeled "close"
The flv file is named "reel.flv"
What I'm asking for is the exact code that I need to put under the stop(); to make this work.
Sorry I'm so elementary... Like I said, I'm a designer, not a developer. I'm quite new to actionscript.
okay I will try to make this as easy as possible. Copy and paste the code from below and put it into the next line after your stop();
You will need to give an instance name of "my_FLV" to your FLVPlayback component, excluding the quotes. That should do the trick.
to add an instance name select the FLVPlayback component on the stage and in the properties window on the bottom of the screen will be the blank where you can add the name.
Hope this helps.
Many thanks. Worked like a charm!
sure thing, glad I could help. We all gotta start somewhere.
Thanks. I've been using Flash since Flash 2 came on the scene back in '98 or so but I've managed to get by knowing barely any actionscript. I'm 98% a front-end guy.
wow, well make sure you archive whatever you AS you use, I am sure you will need it again.
