relink html page to images & css

A client wanted a change to one of the pages on their website. So, I opened the page in DW and 'saved as' another name of the same page, (in order to keep a copy of the original page) within the same site folder. I made the changes and it looked fine in the browser preview. I then renamed this revised page back to the same as the original page. I did this renaming in the file folder on the desktop (could that be the problem?). When I uploaded it to the site, it looked like all of the connections to the .css doc and the images folder were no longer there. So, I pulled it offline and now I'm trying to figure out a way to re-establish the links to the .css and images. It all looks fine when open in Dreamweaver and when I preview it in browser mode, however in the thumbnail preview it shows question marks where the images are supposed to be and when I upload it, it looks like hell.

Any ideas as to how I can reestablish the links?

      Thanks.

Yes, this would be the problem. You should only ever work via the files panel>Window>Files. If you then make changes to a file or move it to a different location within the site root folder Dreamweaver will ask you if you want to update the links assocaiated with that file.

Unless you have a back-up of the orginal file you may have to update the links manually. If you have the orginal file put it back in it's original location and then do any updates via the site panel.

Thank you for your advice. Fortunately, I had saved the original file and was able to revise it within the files panel. God help me if I ever try to make a change outside the files panel ever again!
