Confirmation on correct Encore settings for Canon H1 footage.

      Hi all,

I'm using Premiere and Encore CS5.

I just wanted to get a confirmation or opinion on the correct Enore settings for footage shoot on the Canon H1 camcorder.

I recorded the video using Mode: HD, Frame Rate: 30F, Gain: 0, Color Temp: 3200k.

The 30F (30fps) progressive mode recorded outout signal gets converted into 60i (60fps) interlaced on tape, so other than the initial frame rate of 60i, 30F or 24F, it all ends up 60i on tape anyway.  While the event was a fast paced dance performance, I shot in 30F rather than 60i to see the difference in motion blur.  I realize that going from 60i to 24F increases motion blur.  In fact, i see no reason to shoot in anything other than 60i on the H1 for fast moving action like a dance show especially sine it will be converted to 60i on tape anyway.

Anyway, the footage was injested into Premiere using the HDV 1080p30 sequence preset so...

      1. Since the H1 converted 30F to 60i on tape, i probably should have used the HDV1080i30 (60i) preset in Premiere - correct?

      2. Since i now have 60i footage in Premiere, it would be most proper use the 1080i 29.97 transcode preset in Encore - correct?

      3. use as high a bit rate and preset as you can and still fit the video on a 25gb disc - correct?

So if i injest 60i into Premiere with a 1440x1080i30 (60i) (still 29.97fps)  sequence and import the seqence into Encore and set a H.264 1440x1080i (29.97fps) transcode preset with a bit rate of 40Mbps, the resulting video quality should be as good as it gets using Encore - correct?

      4. Is "Drop Frame" still necessary since the video will be displayed on the new HD LCD TV's?
