1. Re: Where do you get iPad device central profiles?
Jim_Babbage Mar 9, 2011 11:38 AM (in response to LeslieInV)You'll need to browse for them from within Device Central. Bear in mind they are usually pretty generic.

LeslieInV Mar 9, 2011 12:08 PM (in response to Jim_Babbage)I tried browsing, but none showed up. I noticed that your device central has a "Shared" library filter & it looks like you had that selected when the iPod profiles appeard. I don't have a Shared filter (I'm using FW CS5 on a Mac). Any idea why you have a shared filter & I don't?
Thanks!

3. Re: Where do you get iPad device central profiles?
Jim_Babbage Mar 9, 2011 12:32 PM (in response to LeslieInV)Maybe I am not understanding your needs here, but device profiles have nothing to do with Fireworks; they are pulled from Device Central, which is an online database of devices stored on one of Adobe's servers. As far as FW is concerned, the device profile's main use is to generate a document with the pixel dimensions of the device. That's pretty much about it.
Check out this screen grab I created a couple minutes ago:

You'll see several iPad device listings, found by using the Browse feature of Device Central and the search term of iPad. In order to make use of the profile, you have to download it to your Testing devices panel, which can be done simply by draggging the desired device into that panel.

4. Re: Where do you get iPad device central profiles?
LeslieInV Mar 10, 2011 9:03 AM (in response to Jim_Babbage)Regardless of whether I'm using Fireworks or not, Device Central on my computer doesn't show any iPad devices when I browse & search on "iPad." The image linked below shows that I've browsed & searched for iPad & it found "No results for the given search criteria"

Wolfeman77 Aug 1, 2011 1:37 PM (in response to LeslieInV)Sounds like your firewall or proxy server is causing you problems with getting to DeviceCentral's servers. I was having the same problems with it because it could not use our proxy server information (a configuration script with IE). I ended up using my phone as a hotspot to get out of our corporate network.

LeslieInV Aug 6, 2011 12:20 PM (in response to Wolfeman77)I'm on a home network (not corporate) & don't have a proxy server (as far as I know). But that sounds like a good guess. I'm using an Apple Time Capsule as my wireless router and a Macbook Pro.
