Did you try without BlackMagic?
Hi, just tried and set the default player to Adobe, but no joy. I have noticed also that I can't change the playback or Paused resolutions, does that have anything to do with it?
I've just noticed a couple of other things, the quicktime files don't show a yellow line above them but the TGA's do. I've tried to render quicktime but it won't do it, but it will render the TGAs.
Don't know if that helps in any way??
Thanks for the suggestions, I tried both and got these results:
- started computer in safe mode and started PPro CS5, it played back fine
and didn't stop, but when I reopened it (as administrator) in normal mode it
still kept stopping on playback
- Installed the software in a different user account (still with admin
rights). Started PPro CS5 and still no joy, kept stopping on playback.
Help please!! At least it plays in safe mode, but one thing I did notice was
that the Mercury accelerator couldn't be installed in safe mode, is this
possibly the problem???

Some different results happening now, I've noticed that in the Playback Settings for Blackmagic that if I check "Turn Off Dropped Frame Warning" the video plays continously but lags behind or plays slowly compared to the audio?
Any ideas please!!?
alright guys i figured it out.... FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS
YOU HAVE TO ENABLE THe ROOT USER
Here is how to enable the root user
1. CLICK ON YOU MACINTOSH HARD DRIVE icon
2. CLICK ON SYSTEMS folder then click on Library
3 CLICK ON CORESERVICES folder
4.CLICK DIRECTORY UTILITY icon
5. CLICK ON THE EDIT MENU AT THE TOP AND ENABLE THE ROOT USER
6 LOG OUT AND LOGIN AS THE ROOT USER (you will have to put root user in the name section) then put your password
7. OPEN PREMIERE and everything will playback as normal
Note: using your cpu in root user mode isnt good at all
so go back in and disable the root user and log back into your regular account and everything will playback as normal.
I spent 5 hours trying to figure out why this is was happening. Read several of blogs and put all of the answers together and got this.
