      how do i create text scroller like this website : http://www.erikhallander.com/

            as soon as you enter page, the scroller is on the left hand side under portfolio text

              That is not a text scroller, and it just seems to animate to one end or the other when triggered, not really scrolling so much.  It is most likely a movieclip of buttons/mc's covered by a mask that has its y property tweened when the mouse is over it beyond particular y values.  You'll notice if you move your mouse slowly up or down it, there is a point where it starts moving, but it doesn't stop 'til it reaches the end... it is not being controlled by the mouse like a scrolling interaction would do.

                  You should be familiar with using actionscript tweening based on other recent postings you made.  Beyond that you need to have something tracking the position of the mouse to determine when to trigger a tween to occur, if one is needed... if the movie is already moved where it should be, there is no need to tween it.
