I was unaware of this... However, is there no method to include the detection into the actual swf file, maybe using actionscript?? From an advertisers point of view, it would seem the best way so only one file (the swf movie) needs to be given to display the advert.
Seems the reasoning is a little off. If the Flash detection is in the Flash .swf.... but the browser has no Flash plugin.. the .swf would never be read by the browser... hence no "Flash detection" scheme would be implemented.
That's why Flash detection has to take place out-side of the .swf, by the browser... exactly like .swfobject does.

Thank you both for your help, I now understand, so for the advert to have the detection, the advertisers will need to supply the detection code to the website publisher too, unless they already have impletmented the detection on the website...
