if you're using the authoring environment to embed your fonts, it will only be embedded once.
if you're using actionscript to embed your font, assign the font property of your textformat object and assign it to each textfield.
If you go into publish settings>Flash tab, turn 'generate size report' on, publish the movie, open the size report file, and look down where it says "Font", you'll see all the fonts/characters the movie is embedding.
If you have 17 different text fields, each embedding different characters - as long as they're the same font, the .swf will only embed that font once.
If all your textFields are created dynamically, you can do this:
Or for shiggles:
Just keep an eye on the size report - that will tell you everything you're exporting/embedding.
Damn, that's what I thought. I'm ending up with a basic swf which is 2.5mb - i just figured (or hoped) i was doing something wrong. It's all down to the Japanese fonts being used. Anyone ever encountered this before and found a solution?
