I am currently developing a Delphi application that uses the TAcroPDF (ActiveX control) to display PDFs. To my understanding, this will only display if the user already has Adobe Reader installed on their machine already. My question is: Is there a way to have the control somehow display the PDF in the application without relying on the user to have Adobe Reader installed? Like a standalone PDF reader?
No, not with Adobe Reader. There are other components that you can use to embed a PDF viewer in your application, but I've never used any. Foxit has one, for example, but it's not free.
