You get what you pay for. Both systems are ill advised. Too weak a CPU, not enough memory, lousy integrated video.
Both systems will be around 10 - 20 times slower than a fast system. Look here: PPBM5 Benchmark
If you want anything decent, get an i7-2600K with at least 8 GB memory and a GTX 560 video card, or better yet, an i7-950 with 12 GB memory (3 x 4 GB).
regardless of the 2 you need
1) more ram
2) dedicated video card.
we benchmarked the 2500 for audio but not video. but it does give me a clue where it will lay.
the 2500 was about on par with the Intel 870
the AMD 1090t was slightly better for video than the 870. so i would have to say the AMD.
the AMD would be better for 3d studio as well
for the AMD you need the 790 or 890 chipset nothing less
as Harm mentioned the 2600 would be better far better
first of all thank you harm n scott to reply to my query.
u both seem to convince me to go for i7 2600. i think i'll again have to think about it since the price diff is almost $ 140 (as i reside in india, the cost comes to 140 $)
currently i m working on pentium 4, 2 gb ram and 512 mb ati radeon graphics card (and yes i edit dv footage to make films of 20 mins in duration in premiere and also work in after effects, not simulteanously).
how much percent better performance will i get with i5 2500 compared to my pentium 4?
It would be drastic
thanks scott for the positive reply. i really feel confident to go for the intel i5 2500 system. i know its not even an average system for you people but i guess if i can get more speed with this system my purpose will be achieved. i may upgrade it later.
thanks a lot once again
hi u all,
i have couple of days to make the final call. as u know i was to go for i5 2500 (mentioned above). but now i am thinking of stretching my budget for i7 2600 after reading ur posts and couple of reviews.
wht i want to ask is,
1- will i7 2600 give me better performance than i5 2500, with everything else same?
2- will there be a noticable difference?
3- is i7 2600 worth strecthing my budget?
kindly advice. i m planning to have 8 gb of ram also.
regards to all,
Yes, yes, yes.
yes, yes, yes
AND get the 2600k model for sure!
Take a look at the PPBM5 results and you can see that there are three i7-2600K (make sure you get the K version) systems in the Top 20 systems. With it's overclockability and processing power you will be much happier imediately and it will give you much longer life before it becomes obsolete.
Make sure that your 8 GB of RAM is two 4GB modules to allow for future memory expansion. Also I agree with Scott that you really need a dedicated video card.(Adobe's minimum requirements) which means you possibly need a larger case and power supply.
i love u guys....u r always ther for help with ur expert suggestions n advice. thank u harm, bill, jeshort scott everybody.
i am now definately going for i7
whts the difference between i7 2600 and i7 2600k?
i dont think i'll go for overclocking.
besides i m not getting i7 2600k yet.
do i really need 2600k if i m not going for overclocking?
but what exactly r u trying to tell me? i dont understand. what i just want to ask is do i still need i7 2600K even if i m not going to overclock?
not ocing then dont bother
but you may change your mind later so the $30 saved by not may make you wish you had later
You asked about processor differences... the best place to compare is at Intel, using their compare function on the 2nd link I posted
sorry for replying so late to this old forum which i started quite some time back. but i m replying after purchasing the system and i want to thank each n every one of u who replied to this query n helping me build the system that i am now in love with. recently i had to edit dvd videos and make a final output of 8 minutes with one layer of title and music. it took me just 1 minute n 28 seconds for the final output in dvd. although i didn't edit in premiere i used grass valley edius for editing but the point i want to make is i m so happy that it got exported in just 1:28 mints. i was to go for i5 2500 but thanks to u guys i m now working with i7 2600 (sorry no K). i know my system may not stand up to ur standards but this is wat it is
4 gb ram
it works fine for me.
i am starting another discussion where i need ur help in choosing the rite graphics card for my i7 2600. what else do i need to edit hdv in premiere pro cs5.
kindly help me as always.
regards n love to all
