Editing Device Profile Resolutions - not very clear

    LeslieInV Community Member

The editing of device profiles doesn't work consistenty.  Changing the input controls once works for Bitmap, Video, & Web.  However, you have to change the resolution four times to get it set for the same device (in General, Bitmap, Video, & Web mode).   It seems the same device should use the same resolution always.  Perhaps the 'Web' mode is differnt to account for browser chrome?  Can anyone explain why it might be different & when would you ever set it differently for Bitmap & Video?

      Thanks!

          Hi LeslieInV,

Bitmap, Video & Web do not necessarily always have the same addressable size. Video for example often automatically turns to landscape mode, Bitmap probably is the same as actual display size, and Web, as you rightly noticed, can have the browser chrome that needs to be taken into consideration. Therefore the safest way to handle the sizes of these different media types it to handle them separately.

Then again, if a custom profile is made, it could be a feature worth putting a thought towards, to defaultwise set all media types to the size set in "General". The present solution just offers more flexibility and makes the creator of the custom profile aware that the different media types need to be handled separately.

          Thanks,
