Question: How to insert a slideshow into my fireworks document

    dm25 Community Member
I have a slideshow (Player Black (SPRY / HTML) that I created in fireworks. I am trying to insert it within a circular region that I created in my fireworks document. How do I do that? Thank you very much!

You can't insert the slideshow into a Fireworks document. YOu have to
insert it into your HTML page in Dreamweaver.

I looked under help in dreamweaver, there are no matches that come up when I type slideshow.

                dm25,

If you look carefully you will see that creating a slideshow creates two
files (index.html and an xml file) and and two directories (scripts and
images). Those four items contain all the components of the slideshow.
Normally you would point your visitors to the html file in your site so
they can view the slideshow. If you want to further change that and have
the slideshow inside of an existing page you are going to have to learn
some html and learn to manipulate the code.

Off the top of my head I would say that what you are trying to do is
rather complex. The only way to help further would be to see the code of
the page you are trying to insert the slideshow into. Fireworks is not
going to allow you to export the slideshow to an existing area of an
existing page (the circular region you mention).

I have found a quick and simple way to import a Fireworks Slideshow into an existing Dreamweaver page for your website. See the simple steps below:

                  1. Create your Fireworks slideshow and save it to your desktop.

                  2. You will notice that you now have two files (index.html and an xml file) and and two directories (scripts and images).

                  3. Download and install a Web Developer's Tool Bar for your browser - this is a great one that I used ( http://chrispederick.com/work/web-developer/).

                  4. Once you reopen your browser you will notice a toolbar.

                  5. Go to the index.html file that fireworks created and double-click to open in your browser as normal.

                  6. Now look at the toolbar and go to the "Miscellaneous" tab and scroll down to "edit html" and click on it.

                  7. Now the HTML code for that page will appear and you can edit width and height etc.

                  8. Let's open dreamweaver, and the page you want to copy the slideshow into.

                  9. Place your cursor in the code section and "Copy and paste" that code into your page. You should now see a grey box appear in design mode.

                  10. Now take the firework files and place each of them in your public folder on your server -- and delete the index.html file (since you already got the code you needed from it). Don't leave it in your public folder because it could attempt to replace your homepage.

                  11. Synchronize your local to your remote site and "whala!" your slideshow from fireworks is now a part of your site.

The instructions above are excellent, but I still have some questions.

                    1. My slideshow contains a section for thumbnails, etc. I just want the flash slideshow content. I'm using the white background. If you click here you can see the page: http://www.southerncharmgifts.net/samplepage.jpg

I don't want the "Album Book," "Images in Album," or "Image Viewer," to show up on my website. I just want the images in the slideshow itself (in this example the Fugatti Purses). Follow?

                    2. Where do I put the images on my server so the slideshow can see them? What folder? I didn't see the code pointing to any pictures and they didn't show up when I put the code in Dreamweaver.

                    Thanks.
