Assuming that your image is a photograph JPEG is the way to go IMO,
obviously the higher quality setting the better result, but it is set to
default at 80 and this is usually a good enough balance between quality and

As a general rule: If the drawing has a lot of gradient colors the jpg
is the format you would want to go with. If the drawing has a lot of
flat colors then gif would be best.
