1. Re: Video background with play button simple right?
Joe Riggs Apr 1, 2011 4:34 PM (in response to Joe Riggs)I tried render motion menu as well, still get audio but no video.
If I delete the play button, I see video.

Stan Jones Apr 1, 2011 5:54 PM (in response to Joe Riggs)You're probably creating a button that is too big. Make it easier: add a library menu to your project (or create a new test project). Select the menu, and in the motion tab, select your movie. (Motion menus often work better by using separate files for video and audio, but give a try first.) Work okay so far?
Now edit in photoshop, and edit just what you need to get the button the way you want it.

Joe Riggs Apr 3, 2011 6:54 AM (in response to Stan Jones)I tried using a template and I'm running into the same issue.
Maybe i can create a still image with transparnancey, how do I get encore to retain the transperancy?

Stan Jones Apr 3, 2011 10:26 AM (in response to Joe Riggs)Did the first part of what I described work? (Take a template and add the motion asset only.)
Properly done, Encore takes care of the transparency issues.
There may be other issues, but the first part of what I described should work.

5. Re: Video background with play button simple right?
Joe Riggs Apr 3, 2011 11:24 AM (in response to Stan Jones)Thanks for your help.
Here's what's happening, I take the template and I drag the video onto it. I don't see the video, I go to the layers section and unclick (the eye icon) the background. Now I see the first frame of my video and a play button on top of it. However, when I preview I hear the audio but the video stays on that same frame.
Now when I go to the layers section and make the play button invisible, the video plays fine but I have no play button. I just don't get it, the play button is not too big, heck it's from a template.

If you didn't mean Alt-Drag, try that. (Or Mac Option-drag.)
That didn't work for me at least once, so I stick with the pickwhip from the properties/motion tab. But either should work.

7. Re: Video background with play button simple right?
Joe Riggs Apr 7, 2011 7:22 AM (in response to Stan Jones)After I finish my latest edit, I'll re-install and see if that fixes the issue. I'm a big Adobe supporter but I was able to accomplish what I was trying to do with Encore in DVD Studio Pro in 2 minutes and it was my first time using the program.

8. Re: Video background with play button simple right?
anuraggrwl Apr 8, 2011 5:18 AM (in response to Joe Riggs)You need to render the motion menu to preview it.
On left side of the preview pannel next to the speaker icon there is a button with arrow, if you will bring you curssor on it it will show render current motion menu or slide show, click on it and let encore render the motion menu after that you will be able to see you motion menu.

10. Re: Video background with play button simple right?
Blue_Devil1 Apr 9, 2011 6:51 AM (in response to Joe Riggs)Joe,
Here's what I would do, assuming all you want is one button with a subpicture highlight on a motion menu. This button will be used to link to some menu or timeline?
Create in PS a document the size of you encore project ie 720x480 PAR 1.2 or something and fill the background layer with some color.
Then create a button ( group and name the group (+) etc). In the group put some text and a shape for the subpicture (actually, you don't need a subpicture if you only have one button).
Then import this PS document as a Menu into your Encore project along with the .avi you made for your motion background. Then Alt-drag or pickwick the video onto the menu. When you do this, you replace the color layer with your video, but the button is still there.
I appologize if you have already done this and you couldn't get it to work.
I don't think Encore handles transparancy ie I think it depends on the layer stacking and coding, but I could be wrong.
Please let us know if this works.
John Rich
