    batch process

    DannyK040592
      I'm using Fireworks MX 2004. I want to do a 'batch process' to create thumbnails. When I get to the last screen, 'batch' is grayed out -- only 'back' and 'cancel' are avaiable. I'll go through the steps I'm taking and maybe something will jump out at you:

      click 'file' then 'batch process';
      navigate to the folder with the images, then select the images I want the batch process to be applied to and click 'next';
      add scale, export and rename to the panel on the right;
      set options for scale to 150 px x variable;
      set options for export (jpg, quality = 50);
      set options for rename (prefix = sm_);
      click next;
      select custom location, browse to the folder where I want them saved and select that folder;
      select backup, overwrite existing backups;
      save script as thumbnail.jsf;
      'batch' is grayed out, back and cancel are the only available options.

      Any input is greatly appreciated.

      Thank you!

          I'm using FWs 8 but apart from that I followed your steps to the letter
          (apart from selecting Export Settings of JPEG - Smaller File) and it worked
          fine.

            I think it has changed with the newer version but, FW used to be picky
            about actually using the 'Add Files' button when selecting the images.

            Only thing I can think of.

              SKB -- good eye!! I was selecting the files and clicking 'next'. I just now did 'add all', (I did a 'remove' for a handfull because their orientation was 90 degrees different than the bulk of the images -- I'll go back and batch process them by changing the resize to variable x 150) and it went as slick as can be. What a time saver!!!

              Thank you for your response to my question, SKB!

                The reason FW doesn't force you to add images is so you can create just
                the batch operation and save it as a command, allowing you to run the
                entire process on any images at any time without having to select all
                the settings again.
