I'd like to use the approximateMembers property of the netgroup in a multicasting netstream scenario.
So I guess my question is, is there a way to pull out the netgroup associated with a (multicast) netstream?
For instance something like
Or should each client make a netGroup in addition to the netGroup with the same groupSpecifier?
you can make a NetGroup with the same groupspec that you used for the multicast NetStream. the NetGroup and NetStream share the same low-level RTMFP Group (they are effectively separate handles to the same low-level object), so there is no additional network traffic associated with additional NetStream/NetGroup objects for the same groupspec in the same NetConnection.
making a separate NetGroup is The Way To Do It.
Just what I wanted to know. Was worried about the additional overhead/traffic of making a seperate netgroup.
