I am trying to color correct a bunch of clips I've captured off old VHS tape. Because of the way the 25 yr old tape has aged, there is a purple discoloration on the left aspect of the video and green in the middle. Is there a way to correct only certain areas within the video clip?
Also, what is the best way to correct lots of static?
Not an expert, but the concept of "vignetting" is designed for exactly this as described in the awesome Steven hullfish books on color correction.
Like creating layer masks in Photoshop for different portions of the image.
Thank you both for the direction. Much appreciated.
Do you have a recommendation on which book by Hullfish would be good to start with? He's got a few listed on amazon.
