John T Smith Apr 11, 2011 7:21 PM (in response to Brittanyls)Tell Encore to send the output to an image .ISO on your hard drive
Then use the FREE http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download to write the image to disc
And, right click the Encore icon and select Run as Administrator (fixes several "odd" problems)

5. Re: Encore cancels DVD writing and ejects?!?! Help!
John T Smith Apr 12, 2011 8:12 AM (in response to Brittanyls)Since Encore is saying the asset is not valid, you need to go back to where/how you created the MPG to find the problem
If possible, export an AVI from Premiere Pro and let Encore do the transcoding
Otherwise, you need to review what you did to create the MPG to find out why it is not "legal" as an Encore asset

6. Re: Encore cancels DVD writing and ejects?!?! Help!
Bill Hunt Apr 12, 2011 10:12 AM (in response to Brittanyls)As John T. says, something is wrong with that/those MPEG-2 file(s). Encore does not see them as being 100% DVD-compliant, and from the error, where you are getting it, probably does not see it/them as MPEG-2(s).
Did you Export from PrPro, or another NLE program?
Good luck,
Hunt

7. Re: Encore cancels DVD writing and ejects?!?! Help!
Brittanyls Apr 12, 2011 11:40 AM (in response to Bill Hunt)The menu is a video that I rendered in Adobe After Effects into MPEG-2 format.
The main video was exported from Premiere Pro into Adobe Media Encoder and then rendered into MPEG-2 format.
I will try to render the video into AVI format to see if that helps. Is there a specific preset I should use?
Thanks,
Brittany

8. Re: Encore cancels DVD writing and ejects?!?! Help!
Stan Jones Apr 12, 2011 12:07 PM (in response to Brittanyls)I would do a "save as" (so I could go back), then remove the motion asset from AE. See if that will build. (Let's eliminate that mpeg2 as the issue.) Is that really your menu, or a motion background?
Beyond that step, since the project appears only a few elements and rather than troubleshoot this project, I would create a new one. Add one menu from the library. (I like Sunset.) Delete all the buttons except one. Now File -> Adobe dynamic link etc (don't have CS4 in front of me), and add ONE sequence from your Premiere project. Set the transcode setting to automatic. Select that sequence and make a timeline. Set an end action for the timeline. Link the timeline to the one button. Set the build to a folder. Will it build?

9. Re: Encore cancels DVD writing and ejects?!?! Help!
Brittanyls Apr 12, 2011 1:31 PM (in response to Stan Jones)With all of the assets from AE removed, the project builds to a DVD image without a problem.
Is that really your menu, or a motion background?
The asset I used was a video that I put buttons on. So I guess that is a motion background? I was using Andrew Kramer's tutorial on DVD authoring.
What's the next step? How can I use my After Effects assets without creating a problem in Encore?
Thanks,
Brittany

10. Re: Encore cancels DVD writing and ejects?!?! Help!
Stan Jones Apr 12, 2011 1:57 PM (in response to Brittanyls)When you say all of your AE assets, what are you referring to?
I know you can now create buttons in AE, but I can't test any of this at the moment.
Try a dynamic link from the AE comp to Encore. What happens?
Keep doing a "save as" as necessary to keep a safe copy of your work.

11. Re: Encore cancels DVD writing and ejects?!?! Help!
Brittanyls Apr 12, 2011 2:08 PM (in response to Stan Jones)When I say "AE assets" I am referring to a project that I created in After Effects. I did not create the buttons in AE; I simply put text in the video. This text would be what I used to put the button on top of in Encore.
I just tried something that may help fix my problem: instead of rendering the video from AE into MPEG2 format, I rendered it in AVI format. When I try to write to DVD image, I now do not have a problem.
Should I try to burn the DVD Disc now?
Thanks,
Brittany

12. Re: Encore cancels DVD writing and ejects?!?! Help!
John T Smith Apr 12, 2011 3:55 PM (in response to Brittanyls)If Encore will create an image on your hard drive with no errors, go ahead and use Imgburn to write the disc
Tell Imgburn to write at the slowest possible speed (I set a write speed of 1 as the Imgburn default, it then adjusts as needed to meet the minimum speed of the particular disc) and I use Tayio Yuden for single layer and Verbatim for dual layer

13. Re: Encore cancels DVD writing and ejects?!?! Help!
Stan Jones Apr 13, 2011 10:46 AM (in response to Brittanyls)Do what John describes and be done! (You can try to burn from Encore; if works for many.)
When I say "AE assets" I am referring to a project that I created in After Effects. I did not create the buttons in AE; I simply put text in the video. This text would be what I used to put the button on top of in Encore.
So it is a single AE result: a motion video that is used for your motion background. You could use dynamic link. But you have solved this and don't need to!

No, you don't have the same problem... original problem concerned After Effects created file
