This is so frustrating because I can output the percentage using this...
loaded_bytes = Math.round(_root.Empty_MC.getBytesLoaded());
loaded_total = Math.round(_root.Empty_MC.getBytesTotal());
total_percent = (loaded_bytes/loaded_total)*100;
_root.loaded_text = Math.round(total_percent); //loaded_text is var name of text field
Thanks dzedward I'll give your code a go. I got to say though my code works in other applications that I’ve created and it wasn't till I replaced the fields on the stage with Identical fields to the ones I've deleted and everything worked!!!
An explanation would be good as I'm puzzled why one minute every works fine and then it didn't.
What changed about my machine is that I've recently upgraded to Flash 8 professional. Could this be the issue and if it is what else is going to stop working in my swf’s if I ever have to amend old fla’s?
you can change the publish setting to suit your needs... when you replaced the text fields, did you give them instance instance and variable names again?
Hi, Yep the fields had the same properties as the one's I deleted. The only thing that I had the change was the font size for some reason as it appeared smaller?!?!
Hmmm doesn't sound like this was the case but always worth checking when something doesn't display in a text field: embed fonts range not including characters requested tor display.
Also if they were set to embed have your fonts changed on your machine - unlikely because flash normally gives a warning on opening the fla, and you would have noticed.
If the only change you made was just to 'recreate' the textfields they wouldn't have embedded fonts set up on the new textfields - that's why I thought it could be the difference... thought I'd throw that it so you can at least check it and eliminate that.
