Reader X - font shifts to next character in alphabet

I recently upgraded to from Reader 9 to Reader X, version 10.0.1.   Now I often find that fonts are shifted to the next character in the alphabet, for instance "EdExcel" will print as FeFydfm - E becomes F, d becomes e etc.

This makes it impossible to read - at first sight it looks like gibberish.

I am using Windows XP (latest service packs & updates) with a Canon MP610 printer.  No other program has any problem printing.

(Yes, "Print as image" prints OK - but it shouldn't be necessary.  Should I give up and go back to Reader 9?).

Can this be fixed in the next version?
