I lately installed Windwos 7 (32bit) professional from the scratch. I was also installing Abobe Reader X and afterwards Abode CS3 Design premium, which i updated after installation. Now, PDF files usually don't open in Firefox 4 (sometimes they do), i believe it's an interaction between Reader X and Acrobat 8 (from CS 3), as the box "Display PDF in Browser" within the reader is selected but grayed out, so i cannot change this. The path beneath this checkbox directs to .. \Adobe\Acrobat 8.0\Acrobat\Acrobat.exe which exists, but i'd like to use the newer Reader X instead of Acrobat 8.0 as default pdf viewer. How can i change this and finally get my PDF reader get to work?
Thanks for any ideas,
Adobe doesn't recommend nor support Acrobat 8 and Reader X. Only Acrobat X and Reader X have been designed to work with each other. Firefox 4 is too new to be designed to work with Reader X. Many users have reported issues. Given time, Mozilla and Adobe will probably address any incompatibilities on the Windows platform.
In Reader X preferences, you have an option to choose Default PDF Viewer. Go to Edit > Preferences > General > Select Default PDF Handler pushbutton. This will list down installed Adobe PDF viewers, and you can choose to make Reader X has the default application.
Hope this helps and resolves your query/problem.
