Moving this thread to the Premiere Elements forum.
Welcome to the forum, even if you took a wrong-turn somewhere.
In PrE 9, there are several (many?) Menu Templates, that just do not accept a change in the background, as they should. ATR has posted a list of those problem Templates, and I will post a link to that, if I can find it (Search in the forums is broken right now).
In the meantime, perhaps use another Template. The Bug has been reported to Adobe, but so far, we have heard nothing on any fixes. I would urge you to also file a Bug Report, so that Adobe is aware of how this issue is affecting users.
Good luck, and sorry that this Bug has bitten you too,
Thanks for the reply. I will report this to Adobe also. I tried everything
I new how, but could just not get it to work. I assumed there must be a
bug, but thanks for confirming that for me. I will not put any more time in
it and try and find another template to use.
Sorry that you had to struggle with something that has worked, almost flawlessly for many versions.
Not sure what was changed in some of the PrE 9 Templates, or maybe in the code in the program, to apply the background, but something did.
Now, if one has PS, or PSE, they can create just the Menu Set that they were trying to create in PrE. It takes a little work, and one must be careful, as there are several conventions that must be adhered to, or PrE will not be able to do its semi-automatic authoring.
I know that I did an article on changing the Audio in a Library Menu Set, that had Audio attached to it, but do not recall if Steve Grisetti, or I, did one on changing the background. Let me poke around a bit, and if there is one, I'll link to it. It is not hard, but again, one needs to do things certain ways, and be careful to not change things, that would cause issues.
OK, this was the THREAD, that I was thinking about. I'll look over all of my comments, just to make sure that I did not miss something. Like I said, there are certain conventions, that need to be considered.
