Hi all,
I’m new to the RoboHelp community and have an issue I have not yet seen addressed elsewhere in the forums. I’m working in RoboHelp 8 HTML and am generating webhelp. My question is regarding hyperlink options. The option for open in a new window opens topics and links in a new tab. Is there a method, hacking or otherwise, for having the links open in a new browser window?
Much thanks in advance.

Welcome to our community
The only way you might be able to overcome this would be to resort to using some custom JavaScript to coax a new window open. Otherwise, whether your user gets a new tab or a new window is based on their specific browser preferences.

Thanks Rick. Do you have any leads on what this custom JavaScript would look like?
As an FYI, I work in an organization where users are unable to edit the browser preferences so that won't resolve the issue.
And thanks for the rapid response. I've been helped by many of your contributions to these discussions.

Hi,
Welcome to Adobe forum,
As I understand you are trying to open the hyperlinks in a new window instead of a tab.
Well it is possible in Robohelp 8 HTML
Here are the steps which you need to follow.
1. Select the text Right click on it and then select Insert Hyperlink.
Once you click on the Insert Hyperlink another Popup window will appear in your screen.
You need to check this screenshot and select the appropriate option.
Try and generate the Webhelp and see if that helps you,
I hope that will resolve your issue. Please reply if that resolves your issue.
Thanks
Priyank

Thanks Priyank. Unfortunately the problem is that the display in new window option works so that the link opens in a new tab.
To Rick's point custom JavaScript may be the way to go. Editing the code in the html view didn't do it.
