I was asked by my dad to create a basic program to track the
deer he breeds. It would contain fields like "name", "ID Tag" etc.
He is very computer illiterate, so I thought flex would be great
because the forms are so easy to use, plus it gives me an excuse to
The data would have to be saved to an external file (XML?)
and editable. I am having a problem finding information on how to
do that. And what I am finding if vague at best. Can someone point
me to a tutorial online that can walk me through this?
I would greatly appreciate it. I would like to keep off the
server, he only has dial up.....:(
You'd probably want an Apollo app then and not a Flex app.
Apollo apps use the same Flex framework but enable local file read
and write. You can use the 'net of course and upload/download data
using the same data services as with Flex. But your dad won't have
to wait for the Flex app to download, you can give him the Apollo
app on a CD.
Check out Apollo on Adobe Labs. It is still in development
but quite stable.
