Don't use QuickTime...for anything. Seriously, just completely uninstall it from your rig.
Try the free VLC or KM Player instead.
Well, I don't really use QT anymore except sometimes when my normal Command+I won't show me the dimensions on a video. I have VLC, but just didn't use it much, but now I see that it gives me clearer file information. It looks like the solution was to stop letting Quicktime mislead me. *sigh*

Hi Jim, I don't use QT, but what is the quick and key concept as to why I should avoid it at all costs?
Some people really like it (such as a fellow who helped me with my color grading) and I don't know what to tell them except things like "I do know some very reputable people have very serious reservatons about it", etc.
QT is 32 bit, so it effectively destroys the 64 bit nature of PR. There are but a few mov wrapped files that do not require the QT32Server, the majority cripples your PR to 32 bit.
Use the Youtube preset (its under H.264) that will give you perfect dimensions.
