What happens if you use Save As?
Try deleting the entire preferences folder and then restarting After Effects:
Thank you so so so much!!!! Now I can continue editing Thanks
Edit: Save As did the same thing, but deleting the whole 10.0 folder worked
My After Effects is doing the same thing and I don't know where to find that preferences folder. I'm running a 2008 macbook and need help asap. Thank you!
Michelle, the path to the preferences folder is in my previous post.
Yes, I have that path, but I don't know how to actually get there. Where do I go first to put in that path and delete the folder?
I am having the same problem as Swaza13 except I'm using AfterEffects CS6.
I tried deleting the preferences folder like you suggested, and it didn't work. So I put the Preferences folder back in it's original place. Then I tried UNinstalling and REinstalling AfterEffects CS6 entirely. After reinstalling it, an error came up that had something to do with the "11.0-x64 Prefs" file. So I found that file and tried deleting that out of the 11.0 Preferences folder. Now I'm getting this error upon start up:
And I get this error once the program opens:
After I click "OK" on the error dialog box, AfterEffects crashes. This happens repeatedly now without fail...
To troubleshoot, I tried rebuilding my preferences folder by holding down Command+option+shift during start up. But that didn't seem to work either. The "11.0-x64 Prefs" file and the "11.0 Shortcuts" file are still missing from the 11.0 Preferences folder.
I am in the middle of a freelance job, and I have a deadline tomorrow so please respond ASAP.
Your problem is likely that Mac OS has incorrectly set the permissions for your preferences folders. This is a common problem when you upgrade a Mac OS rather than installing the new version fresh.
You can fix this by setting the permissions for the entire preferences folder (the entire 11.0. folder) so that the folder and its contents are writable, not read-only.
