Thoroughly confused on my graphics card. I've read the tested cards which are supposed to work with CS4 and NVIDIA 9600GT and 9800GT are included for GPU support. I purchased a 9500GT two years ago and was told by the sales rep it has a 1GB GPU capability. Now I see that both CS4 and CS5 don't recognize it for the Mercury Renderer option. Does anyone know a way to arrange preferences, etc. in CS4/5 to enable Premeire to use this card's GPU? I am running on Windows VISTA with a Quad Core 3.2 AMD system with 8 GB of RAM.
CS4 does not employ the MPE (Mercury Playback Engine), while CS5 does. CS5 will do Software MPE, if a CUDA enabled card is not present. If it is, one also has Hardware MPE. This ARTICLE's links will give you more info, and an updated list of CUDA nVidia cards, that have been certified.
Don, you might want to see some data I published on the 9500 GT for use as the CUDA/MPE hardware accelerator for CS5 It really is a turtle speed-wise.
P. S. I hope you have Vista 64 and not 32.
