Simple question: Is it possible to display the actual current visible frame which includes the sub movieclips?
In other words, I have a bunch of animating movieclips placed on the stage, however when I scrub the main timeline, the movieclips don't animate.
They animate if I preview the movie, but I want to see them in the editor so I can line things up properly.
No, you would need to have them as graphic symbols extended along the timeline in order to be able to scrub them to see the different frames.
Wow, that's very disappointing. Most art packages let you scrub through the time line (e.g. Maya, 3DS Max), so it astounds me that at version 5 this can't be done. I don't know how designers manage (I'm a programmer).
In any case, thanks for the reply.
That's how Flash rolls and the nature of MovieClip symbols--they have independent timelines. Animators will use Graphic symbols instead of Movieclips for that reason.
