There are no problems with combining AS1 and AS2. They are actually the same language, but with just a few twists in how they look at things. But they both use the same virtual machine to run their byte code.
AS3 is a totally different animal that AS1/2. An AS3 published file can load an AS1/2 file into it and play (in a limited fashion). But an AS1/2 file cannot load and AS3 file because it has no idea what the newcomer is all about.
So if you are really talking about AS1 and 2, you must be having some other kind of problem. Can you describe the problem a bit more?

Yes it is possible. Like I said there is no difference between AS1 and 2 (as far as the player is concerned). They are the same. I'm not even sure how you would know the difference between them. So what makes you think you AS1 and 2?
