Curently working on helping develop a flash site for my brother, Not a lot of expertise in the format. Early development featured some ideal stuff moved from AfterEffects resulting in a 29MB file that took a long time to load (And in Firefox, the browser wouldn't actually show it until it had loaded completely). Plus it was playing rather jittery. Since then We've been going through the origional file, finding ways of removing raster movies and replacing them with either straight flash based vector animation or at least animated still images. We've got the origional shrunken down to a little over 10MB, however we're still looking into what more we can redo and what we can keep.
Considering our goal of a fast loading smooth playing flash based web site, what is the ideal file size we should be aiming for?
There probably isn't an ideal number, but an efficient Flash site file can carry very little weight, less than 100K, and will load any heavier content dynamically.
The above link have a free flash template, just download the source from the below of the flash animation. and know the minimum file size that they have done for that flash website. They almost done it in an optimized way.
